Prior to building The Garage we had been auditioning for singers & experimenting with a various artists, one of which was the very talented Caroldene Black, a great singer & songwriter from South East London.
Caroldene, Peter Smith & Richard Salt started up a band called “Profile” & wrote several tracks, one of which was called “On My Mind” which attracted attention from Winston Sela who helped us with the production.
Lord knows what was on our minds when we did this photo shoot though 🙂

OMG, I have just stumbled across this old picture. I can’t believe it guys, how many years ago was that..????????? I have wondered from time to time what happened to you guys. I’ve got some great memories of our time working together, you were both amazing songwriters, and the creative combination was brilliant. Really pleased to touch base with you both, but the picture although very flattering to you boys, has got to go. Send me copies of the demos we did please. Thanks. Take care. Caroldene. X
Hey Caroldene – glad you stumbled across the site, great to hear from you. What a blast from the past eh? We were so young 🙂 You know you look great in the photo 🙂 its us two that spoil it! Will dig out those demos for you. All the best. Rx
Are you still involved in music, and if you are what are you doing now? I hope you’re well. How’s your mum? I can remember the cups of tea & how she supported your career choice. She was a lovely lady.
I look forward to hearing those old trks again. Take care of yourself.
All the best
Caroldene
We’re both well out of the music game now. Kids & mortgages took over 🙂 My Mum is well thanks for asking. How about you? Still singing?
Yes I am still in music, have remained in music pretty much since then. I’ve been gigging for the best part of 20 years. I use to tour with Matt Bianco, and done a bunch of recording sessions. More recently I teach singing at Newham College in Stratford, and that’s going well. It’s a shame you’ve stopped doing music, as you were so good. How many children do you have, and how old are they? I had two daughters, one 25 and the other 21. My oldest daughter is a great musician, she plays the guitar, and the keyboard, and sings a little. Anyway, it’s really lovely to have stumbled across your blog, and reminisce about some really great
times in our lives. Take good care. All the best! XX
ever think about pressing on vinyl the song On my mind? This would surely fly off the shelves
